Paul is the partner with prime responsibility for commercial property. He has 30 years’ experience at leading London law firms and has advised national housebuilders, housing associations and developers on projects in regeneration, planning, consortium development and environmental matters. He has a significant commercial property clientele and brings valuable sector experience and reputation to our commercial property and social housing teams.
He advises clients on acquiring, selling and investing in commercial property including retail, offices, care homes, pubs, restaurants (including licensing), hotels, health and sports clubs. He deals with the drafting and negotiation of commercial leases, airspace lease development, lease renewals, options and ancillary work, including licences, rent deposit deeds, guarantees, dilapidations, break notices and rent reviews. He undertakes property finance and secured lending work.
He is also experienced in commercial work including acting on the purchase and sale of businesses, joint ventures, drafting commercial contracts, service level, franchise and shareholders agreements. He advises on professional appointments, collateral warranties and JCT construction contracts.
In addition he acts for local authorities and a variety of charities including registered providers of social housing, Church of England charities, other religious organisations, schools and universities, including advice on governance and legal structures.
